A 20-member delegation of China Foreign Economy and Trade Trust Co., Ltd. (FOTIC) carried out a poverty relief campaign in Ar Hoqin Banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region during August 15-17, 2018. The delegation included Li Junmin, deputy director of the Party and Mass Work Department of the Sinochem Group; Zhang Yibing, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of FOTIC’s Labor Union; Wei Mengmeng, assistant to FOTIC’s general manager; representatives of the Party Branch and FOTIC’s Youth League Committee; and other charitable employees. Themed as “Belief in Warmth and Kindness, Love for Ar Hoqin”, the campaign was joined by Yu Weidong, secretary of the Ar Hoqin Banner Party Committee; Meng He, member of the Standing Committee of Ar Hoqin Banner Party Committee and governor of the Ar Hoqin Banner government; and Lv Tao, a Sinochem official stationed in Ar Hoqin, member of the standing committee of Ar Hoqin Banner Party Committee, and deputy governor of the Ar Hoqin Banner government. Situated in central Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Ar Hoqin Banner is a national-level poverty-stricken county. It is one of the poverty alleviation targets of the Sinochem Group. In response to the country’s call for targeted poverty alleviation, FOTIC has been playing an active part in the Dream Action in recent years. The Dream Action is a one-on-one poverty alleviation campaign launched by the Sinochem Group. It helps poverty-stricken students to counter financial difficulties and pursue their studies. For the first time, FOTIC adopted the model of “Party Building + Business + Charity” for organizing the campaign. In the battle against poverty in Ar Hoqin Banner, it rallied various departments of the company, including the Department of Party Building and Culture, Department of Special Businesses, Youth League Committee, and the Labor Union. Guided by the Party Building Department, the Third Party Branch of FOTIC entered into an intent on “Paired Alleviation, Joint Efforts, and Mutual Promotion” with the Party branches of two local villages. Moreover, FOTIC leveraged the legal and financial functions of the charitable trust in a flexible way to aptly initiate the financial alleviation work of the Sinochem Group. During the campaign, the delegation members went door to door to visit poor shepherds and farmers. They communicated face-to-face with students benefiting from the Dream Action, poverty-stricken families, and veteran Party members, thereby gaining a deep understanding of their living environment and actual difficulties. This campaign was just the beginning of FOTIC’s journey towards poverty alleviation. The company is actively exploring the establishment of a charitable foundation in an effort to pool forces to better fulfill social responsibilities. |
